There comes a time when your computer or laptop is just not performing as well as it used to. And since every desktop or laptop owner needs his/her PC to perform multi tasks efficiently and as quickly as possible, so you think your desktop or laptop is destined for the scrap heap. However, before tossing it on the scrap heap and spending a lot of money on a new PC system, perhaps you should consider some new upgrades. You will likely spend a lot less money on upgrading your notebook or desktop and after the upgrade you should see big improvements in performance sometimes up to 50%. With that being said, here are three upgrades users choose for their computers and laptops.
Notebook’s and desktop’s memory is an essential component of its internal operating system. Memory upgrades probably rank as one of the most popular upgrades for desktop and laptop owners. It is also a pretty simple upgrade and one of the quickest, easiest things that you can do to boost your desktop’s productivity and performance and that can only be a good thing plus it’s a lot cheaper than buying a new PC or laptop.
If you are planning on upgrading your laptop or computer’s memory, you will first need to determine how much memory your desktop currently has. You will also need to find out the speed of your ram and also you will need to know how many empty slots you have for upgrading the memory. Example: If there are no free slots left and you have...let’s say two banks with two sticks of 512 megs of ram in the motherboard, a possible solutions is to remove both sticks of ram and replace the memory with two sticks of 1 gig ram...that’s only if the motherboard can take 1 gig sticks? But remember this is only if the both banks are full? If your desktop was new when you purchased it and you have not upgraded it yet, the information is normally provided in the user manual that came with your system. Or you can use programs such as Sandra 2008, SIW - System Information. Otherwise; you will need to perform a BIOS check to see how much memory you currently have. Then you will also need to open your desktop’s case to check the number of empty slots.
(PC’S only) Another popular upgrade many people consider when there upgrading their systems is the processer (CPU) upgrade. Most custom built computers have room for a bigger CPU on the down side for people who brought a branded PC say from PC World...it’s unlikely your be able to upgrade the CPU by much if any, this is their way of making you buy a new desktop.
(PC’S only) If you love playing all of the high graphic intensive games that are about in the shops, you may want to treat yourself a more powerful video card; this is a very popular desktop upgrade for hardcore pc game lovers. Some of the newest games need a mid to high end graphics card to play them at full level, all though the game has a card requirement to even play the game this is just a requirement to play the game at a low spec.
Choosing a video card can be a little confusing, though, because there are so many on the market. You will first need to check either your desktop manual |
