Step by Step Instructions for installing Adobe Acrobat Reader:
Note: Adobe Acrobat Reader is a standard, free piece of software that is probably already installed on your computer. However, we do realize that some of our users need extra help. We hope the following steps will assist you in using our product.
1. If you need to install Acrobat reader, follow the steps below:
2. Once on that page, select the language you would like to use.
3. Select the operating system you are using on your computer: for example, Windows 2000/98/95/3.1, Mac, Linux.
4. Enter your email address (Adobe will not let you download Acrobat without entering your email address).
5. Click on the download button.
6. A window will pop up on your browser, asking if you would like to run the program from the current location or save it to disk. Select Save this program to disk. Click on ok.
7. A new window will appear on your screen entitled Save As. This is where you must tell the computer where to store the downloaded program until you've had the chance to install it. You can save it wherever you want, as long as you remember where you put it. A good spot is on our desktop. From the scroll down menu at the top of the window, click on Desktop, then click on save.
8. A status box will come on to your screen, telling you how long the download will take, what speed it is downloading at, etc. This box will disappear when the download is complete. Then download time will depend on what time of day you are downloading (the more users, the longer it will take), as well your Internet connection.
9. Once the download is completed, go to your desktop and double click on My Computer. Select Desktop from the scroll down menu at the top.
10. Find your downloaded program (for Adobe Acrobat 4.05, it is called ar405eng.exe, for example) and double click on it.
11. The Adobe Installer will then take you through the steps of installing your Acrobat Reader.
12. Once it is installed, you need to simply click on any documents requiring Acrobat and it should automatically open those files for You.
